About Us

Zip Code Wilmington is Delaware’s first coding school, and one of the first nonprofit coding schools in the country.

Zip Code Wilmington is:

1) A software development training school in downtown Wilmington

2) An apprenticeship program that launches new careers immediately upon graduation.

We give our students an experience that fast-tracks them into a great career, at a great salary, and we do it in under a year.

Through alliances with area companies, some of which are household names, we’ve created a world-class curriculum that mirrors the real world.

Our educators have years of professional experience in software development, ensuring our graduates are ready to step into any software development team and succeed.

Our History

As entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, our founders saw San Francisco’s and New York City’s success spurring their technology economies and putting individuals to work. Coding schools were a large part of the equation, but few high-quality coding schools existed on the East Coast. Even fewer were training for the types of coding jobs available in most major cities (Java). They decided to build a coding school from the ground up. By leveraging the strong demand of area corporations for software developers, they created one of the strongest private/public/charitable partnerships possible.

Our Boot Camp

As a boot camp laser-focused on careers, we built our curriculum with direct input from our corporate partners. Our students learn the very skills our corporate partners want in an entry-level software developer.  Our graduates will attest that Zip Code is a rigorous course. Our students spend more time coding in 3 months than they would during a typical 4-year Computer Science degree. Following the in-class training, area companies hire select graduates for paid, 26-week apprenticeships and direct-hire jobs. This capstone apprenticeship makes Zip Code Wilmington unique in the boot camp industry.

Zip Coders are hard-working, dedicated, unique individuals. We’re looking for students who love a challenge and are willing to put in the effort to succeed. If that describes you apply today!
